......to make Christmas Cards!
Not once during those card making afternoons with Miss4, did it ever occur to me, that I could buy Christmas cards from her, this year. Even though I usually buy at least one set of charity cards........... Not once during yesterday, the first of December, did it occur to me that I would usually have all my Christmas cards ready to post. So tonight, in a flurry, hurry, hustle and bustle, I am chucking together some Christmas cards, using whatever I can find in my craft supplies. Tomorrow (I'm hopeful, considering what I have on this week!), I will begin to write.....
After a conversation I had on Saturday with a person I had only just met, I am a bit disturbed to think that the giving of Christmas cards is a dying art...... why? Why? WHY???????? I love Christmas cards (although, not too fussed on this years slap-happy emergency creations!). Very rarely do I get the chance to put pen to paper and write to people I see daily/weekly/occasionally/rarely ...... for some, it's the chance to touch base, and to others it's a chance to say something more meaningful ....... and it's all handwritten.... in ink. How cool.
There are somethings I am more than willing for technology to do it's bit and make faster, modernize, re-do in some form........ but the giving of a handwritten, and often handmade Christmas card .......... to me, it's priceless (even though they will end up in the bin with all the rest!).
